You can set an Opacity value in QuarkXPress 7 and 8 for pictures, text, and objects. To do so:



For text:




  1. Highlight the text to which you want to apply the Opacity value.

  2. In the Colors palette, ensure that you have the text button selected at the top of the palette.

  3. Click on the Opacity percentage field and select the value you want. You can also type in the value.



For pictures:




  1. In the Colors palette, ensure that you have the Pictures button selected at the top of the palette.

  2. Click on the Opacity percentage field and select the value you want. You can also type in the value.



For objects:




  1. In the Colors palette, ensure that you have the Background button selected at the top of the palette.

  2. Click on the Opacity percentage field and select the value you want. You can also type in the value.


You can also set opacity values for frames, table objects, cells, backgrounds, and grids in the Modify dialog for each one or in the Measurements palette.
