Background:
The Item Find/Change XTension can be used to change object
colors. You can also create an Item Style that has a styling attribute for color (only) and apply that Item Style to the objects to which you want to apply a color change. If you want to change the color of text, you can do so in the Find/Change dialog. For version 7, we were required to download and install the XPert Tools XTensions from the Quark web site. However these features are built into QuarkXPress 8 and 9.


Below are the steps for each QuarkXPress utility to globally change colors applied to objects and text.

To use the Item Find/Change utility:



  1. Go to Edit > Item Find/Change.

  2. Under Find What ; check Color and select the color that you want to search for first.

  3. Under Change To ; check Color and select the color that you want to apply to the all the objects in the layout.

  4. At the bottom of Item Find/Change dialog, select the types of objects to which you want to apply the new spot color.

  5. Click on the Find Next button and then click on the Change All button.

  6. Repeat the steps above for each color applied to objects in the layout.



To use the Item Styles utility:



  1. Go to Edit > Item Styles and create an Item Style that applies the desired color to your layout objects.

  2. Open the Item Styles palette from Window > Item Styles.

  3. Select the objects on each page to which you want to apply the spot color and apply the Item Style to them.

  4. Repeat for every page in the layout.


To apply changes to Text in your layout:



  1. Go to Edit > Find/Change.

  2. Uncheck Ignore Attributes.

  3. Under Find What select the Color checkbox and select the color that you want to search for first.

  4. Under Change To select the Color checkbox and select the color that you want to apply to the all the text in the layout.

  5. Click on the Find Next button and then click on the Change All button.
